Poetry Contest

This is our first contest and will be of poetry. Here are the guidelines of the contests:

Guidelines:

You need a title

Your poem can be in any form

It must be on a real-life event that affect you greatly sometime during your life

Naturally, it can be on any mood you choose

There is no length limit to the poem


What you will be assessed on:

You will be judged on your word choice

The way the your poem flow

Your idea and how well you express it

Dose the mood of your poem suit the event

You can just reply and post your poem. Before your title, you should say what the event you chosen is.. note, this is not your title. The title is considered part of your poem, but the description is not part of the poem.

Example:

In this case, "This is about my feelings when I found someone I love" is the description and "Blue Flame" is the title, which will be judged. Using color can either your friend or your enemy in this contest. If you use colors that fits with the theme of your poem, then you'll get extra points. If however the color you use is random and doesn't fit your theme, then no extra marks will given.

Each section being marked is out of 5, with 5 being the highest. I will be the judge. It will be great if everyone join, it's fun. GOOD LUCK!

After I had moved this is a poem about how I felt for a little while after.

Hope it sounds alright.Supposed to be sad and read slowly.

Interesting. I'm not really a poet myself, but I'd like to enter.


This is how I felt before being reaccepted into STP, as I have done much wrong then, and I apologise so very much for it, and I still do.

I won't judge my poem, but I just felt like writing. It is on my parents always fighting, and will probably get in trouble if they ever see this, but oh well...

This is about horse races. I own an ex race horse, so I figured it counted...

The colors have multiple meanings. They are the colors of different roses, but they also are the colors of different horses he is passing up.



Blanket of Roses

I wait anxiously for the sound.
There is no noise, all is quiet.
Braaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!
The bell sounds, the gates fly open

I focus on the track, on running
Only forwards, through the gaps.
My heart races as fast as I run
If not faster.

I'm getting close now.
Only one curve left.
He forces me on, faster than light.
I cry to the people, but race on faster

I am so close. Two in front of me.
I break free, and speed ahead.
One more.. Open space.
I keep racing ahead, not backing down.

Leading the rest, I finally stop
Only to the chears of the crowd
The people who came to see me.
I walk to the center, my head high.

The man gives me my prize.
A blanket of roses around my neck
A trophy to the man on my back.
In all of this chaos, I stand still

I need no trophy. No prize.
The feeling I carry is enough.

Wow that's cool

Well, I've done some things and caused some loved ones grief. I'm not entering, I just wanted to share.

I know I hurt you,
and now I feel so bad.
For saying things and making you sad..
It's just that my love for you is so great,
I want to be with you,
I just can't wait..

You are so special.
One of a kind,
I could look forever and never find,
Anyone else as wonderful as you,


Please forgive me for things I said,
And all the things I have done.

It just messed with my head

The title is: Pet Fox?
It's a Haiku ^-^ It's not exactly about nature, but... It's still a poem.

Oh, A little pet fox yay!
I would love it so
Only a few years left now

This is what I thought when I heard they are only a few generations from domesticating foxes in Russia!

Now another poem that I wrote awhile ago. It might be a certain style, but I don't think so. I think it's freestyle. It's titled
"Climbing Rainbows out of Hel"

Living in a world so cold and sad,
Icicles have formed upon my heart,
So I'm falling apart from the weight of my troubles,
Not even the warmest feeling in the universe could melt my cold blue heart,
At least if I stay alone,
Only the rise of hope that appears in the form of friends could save me from the clutches of Hel.

That one was sappy. I was really depressed and half asleep when I wrote it >_< But I got over it because school started again and I got new friends.

Fun fact!: In Norse mythology, Hel is a being who presides over a realm of the same name, where she receives a portion of the dead. Hel is attested in the Poetic Edda, compiled in the 13th century from earlier traditional sources, and the Prose Edda, written in the 13th century by Snorri Sturluson. In addition, she is mentioned in poems recorded in Heimskringla and Egils saga that date from the 9th and 10th century respectively. An episode in the Latin work Gesta Danorum, written in the 12th century by Saxo Grammaticus, is generally considered to refer to Hel, and Hel may appear on various Migration Period bracteates.

In the Poetic Edda, Prose Edda, and Heimskringla, Hel is referred to as a daughter of Loki, and to "go to Hel" is to die. In the Prose Edda book Gylfaginning, Hel is described as having been appointed by the god Odin as ruler of a realm of the same name, located in Niflheim. In the same source, her appearance is described as half-black and half-flesh coloured and as further having a gloomy, down-cast appearance. The Prose Edda details that Hel rules over vast mansions, her servants in her underworld realm, and as playing a key role in the attempted resurrection of the god Baldr.

Scholarly theories have been proposed about Hel's potential connections to figures appearing in the 11th century Old English Gospel of Nicodemus and Old Norse Bartholomeus saga postola, potential Indo-European parallels to Bhavani, Kali, and Mahakali, and her origins.

Now a third poem. It's about the deaths of my pets, but mostly about my cat Pixi who died in ?Jeditto? I might not have spelled that right. I was five at the time and didn't pay much attention. This is a freestyle as well.

"My pets"

My cat was killed by rez dogs...
I really couldn't care.
Wouldn't the doctors fix her?
My cat was eaten from inside out by maggots!
Who knows how they got there?
I was totally unaware.
My cat was burned to ashes by my own family!
I didn't even know...
I found out three years later.
I cried out heart and soul!
Then five years later I had nothing left to cry out for the dog.
So sad! Boo hoo!

That was weird... Anyway, that's it. I hope the poems aren't to weird for you.
